I can say without a doubt that this book defines the term ‘guilty pleasure.’ Part 1 of the ’50 Shades’ trilogy, 50 Shades of Grey managed to horrify, disgust, enthrall and captivate me at the same time.
It follows the dark erotic journey of a recent college graduate Anastasia Steele into the strange world of the extremely rich and handsome businessman Christian Grey, who has a very unmentionable ‘lifestyle’.
Even though the words used by James are not very eloquent and sometimes frustratingly repetitive, this book is a solid page turner.
The feminist in most women will disagree with the behaviour of our lead characters but it’s these women who have made this book the #1 in New York Times Best Selling Erotic/Romantic fiction. As I said, Guilty Pleasure!
