‘Tamanna’ is the true story of the author. The emotions and grievances of a married man who is introduced to a wonderfully amazing woman – Tamanna. This is a story of love, sacrifice, turmoil, heartache and helplessness one feels when one is in love. This is not an ordinary love story. It is one with emotions that draw you in so much that you end up empathizing with Arjun – the protagonist and also the author of the book itself.
Arjun, a businessman based in Delhi, is a happily married man who is a loving husband and a doting father. His life is that one a common middle class man. One day, he goes to a neighbor’s party and meets this incredibly beautiful woman named Tamanna. She is a married woman with a child. He finds himself attracted to her. Gradually his and Tamanna’s family grow close and often have dinners during the weekends. He keeps quiet about the whole affair throughout but in his heart, he has never wanted a woman more. His friend convinces him that he has feelings of lust and not love, but as the events unfold, he realizes that he is in love with Tamanna. Not only is he in love with Tamanna, he is in love with his wife as well! Tamannas husband Sanjay gets closer to Arjun and slowly starts duping him. Arjun just wants to tell Tamanna how he feels. Arjun and Tamanna grow closer as friends. His hopes are soaring high. He gathers enough courage but he finds out that Tamanna is moving to Finland with her family. Will he be able to tell her? Will his wife find out all about the love he is harboring for this woman? Will Tamanna understand? A story of forbidden love and how it changes his personality.
As I started reading the book, I thought it was a normal ordinary story. A situation which most of the men go through in their married lives. But as the story unraveled, I came across this beautiful love in the heart of a man which blossoms despite all odds and is indescribable. ‘Tamanna’ doesn’t always happen to people. A story which needs to be heard more. A book which is beyond any words.
