So, finally Firefox 4 has arrived. I have been in tune with all that was happening inside the Firefox corner of the world through the various web-based activities they host. I was surprised enough when I found out how a rich web based support the Mozilla team has been able to build up for all their effort behind Firefox. The amount was tantamount to a rich heritage, if it needs to be dramatic! That was last year though, during my applying for the Mozilla Campus Representative program. Then onward things have only got better.
Truly, Firefox was the sole browser in the scenario for long, which is before Chrome arrived. IE was never that much a favorite with serious computer users, and Firefox vouched on that. Things changed after the arrival of Chrome. Google fanatics moved over to Chrome, as well as many other users too. It was Chrome’s speed of surfing, backed by something of the stature of Google that made all the differences. Initially, Chrome did not have a worthy support of extensions, due to which it was losing the race. But then, you know, it being Google’s product, developers from all over the world were eager enough to work on the Chrome platform. Building up a huge extension library was not at all much tough a job for Chrome. It was just a matter of time.
So, when Firefox 4 was released on 22nd March, little wonder the Firefox-fans will be too enthusiastic for the same! This new release has been solely aimed to revive the somewhat-loosening popularity of Firefox with the advancements in Chrome.

As they claim in their blog, that this Firefox release from Mozilla is two to six times faster than the previous releases. And with blazing fast Javascript functionings and a new sleek look can only make the web a better experience for the users. For us, living in this age is bliss. You always get the best of the small worlds around you, the worlds that circumnavigate around Chrome for some and Firefox some others. Not to mentions the Apple fan boys who can swear by Safari, and also Opera for some. Last year when Rockmelt came out with their inaugural release, the dream of a perfect social media browser also came true. And as a serious and critical user, we always get the best of all of these together!

Now, to slightly mention on what all new aspects of technology have been used in Firefox 4,
Performance: As claimed in Firefox blog, this release is two to six times faster than the previous releases, with a faster start-up and page load times.
Interface: A new sleek look! Hardware accelerated graphics. A new apps tab and an option for panorama.
Add-ons: More than 200,000 add-ons are available for customization according to users’ needs.
Synchronization: Chrome had this option for a long time. Firefox initiated the same this time. Good for the fan boys. They now don’t have to suffer from identity-crises.
Privacy/Security: This has always been a big issue, since people need to vouch on browsers to keep their passwords and other credentials safe and secure, even during hard times. Firefox 4 uses an universal standard called ‘Do Not Track’ along with the usage of HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) protocol to secure passwords and log-in time credentials.

Firefox has always been cordial to developers, the proof being the huge numbers of extensions and add-ons supported by it. Most of them are built by independent developers. Firefox 4 incidentally incorporates a new ‘Jagermonkey’ JIT compiler along with HTML5 support, 3D graphics, offline data storage.
I have been a Mozilla Campus Ambassador from the last year, and I should mention that my loyalty to this browser has been on increase, graphically. So much is happening in the world of Mozilla, and being a part of it just makes it more worthy to be a Campus Rep. We are having plans to organize parties regarding the launch of Firefox 4, in the same line as we happened to attend Windows 7 launch parties all around.

I will end this post with some noteworthy links below. Everyone is requested to go through them. Everyone is requested to make themselves a part of what all is happening around, surrounding Firefox 4.
