‘Focus Sam’ by Rohit Gore is a suspense story of a guy who gets to know that he is going to die in an year. The only way he can survive is to live two weeks with all the women he had an affair with and convince them that his life is worth saving, and convince any one of them to turn out to be his saviour.
By the time the first chapter gets finished, this book makes you smile to yourself, primarily by the narration and description of the bond of friendship Sameer Sathe, the protagonist, and his best friend Jai shared. Jai is always there to accompany Sameer through all the bad phases of his life and their friendship was special to both of them. The story had an amazing aura of suspense and mystery related to it, along with having almost seven plots running parallely. That is how Sam sets himself to embark on a journey to save his life by encountering all his Ex-es one by one and narrates his past with them.
Each story is different from the other and offers a freshness to the plot keeping you interested to read more. There is a well-portrayed climax in the novel and it finished off the book with a positive impact on the readers.
The Narration was apt, and you could relate and perceive every scene the author has described along with the dialogues. The plot was one of the most unique I have ever encountered and needless to say, it IS a good read.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
